Martin Callanan, Senior Counsel
In 2014, Martin was made a life peer in the House of Lords. He has previously served as Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, Minister of State for Exiting the European Union and Transport Minister.
He piloted many significant Bills through the Lords, including the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023, the Strikes (Minimum Service Levels) Act 2023, the Space Industry Bill the landmark Energy Bill.
Prior to Westminster, Martin was a Member of the European Parliament for 15 years during which he was Chairman of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, the third largest political group in the European Parliament, from 2011 to 2014. He also had a seat in the political leadership of the European Parliament, the Conference of Presidents.
Today, Martin serves as the Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister and is Vice Chair of both the Net Zero and Renewable and Sustainable Energy All-Party Parliamentary Groups.
